Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to use One83?
No. There is no sign-up screen anywhere in the app and no server behind it. Install it, set your move-in date, and it starts counting. Nothing you record is tied to an identity, because there is no identity to tie it to.
How does One83 know which days I spent in Puerto Rico?
Flight detection reads your Google Calendar or your phone's calendar on the device and turns the flight events your airline and inbox already put there into arrivals and departures. On Audit Defense you can also switch on location evidence mode, which records island crossings locally. Every day is editable, so the record is always the version you approved.
A flight was not detected, or a day looks wrong. How do I fix it?
Open the Calendar tab, tap the day, and set it yourself. You can select several days at once, and you can record the times you arrived and left as evidence without changing the count. A day you set by hand takes the place of detected data and stays put. Detection only sees what is in your calendar, so ferries, flights booked elsewhere and deleted events need a manual entry.
What does a day with no evidence mean?
It means nothing in your calendar, your location record or your own edits says where you were that day. One83 flags the day rather than guessing at it. The evening check-in reminder only appears on days like this, so the app stays quiet whenever the record is already complete.
How do I connect or disconnect Google Calendar?
Connect it from Settings. There is no account to create; the connection is a read-only grant whose token is stored on your device. To disconnect, go to Settings and disconnect the calendar, which revokes the access and clears the stored token. You can also revoke it from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Can I export my presence record?
Yes, and the free export is genuinely free. Every tier can write a plain backup file and a full record CSV. Premium adds the audit export in PDF and CSV, with the source of every day, a total showing your days add up to the full year, a SHA-256 digest, and a year-end report written for an accountant. Audit Defense adds a self-contained share package your accountant opens in any browser.
Where is my data stored, and does it leave my phone?
Your record, flights and any location evidence live in a database on your device. There is no server to sync to. The only data that ever leaves the phone is a crash report, which is not linked to you, and there are no ads, no analytics, no advertising identifiers and no sale of personal information.
What is in a backup file, and where does it live?
A backup is a file, written only when you ask for one, and you decide where it goes. The plain backup is free on every tier. The encrypted backup is part of Premium and is protected by a passphrase we never see, which makes it safe to keep in iCloud Drive or anywhere else you like. If you lose the passphrase we cannot recover the file, because we do not have it.
How do I start, manage or cancel a subscription?
Every paid tier starts with a 14 day free trial and renews automatically after that. Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play, so they are managed and cancelled there. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. On Android: Play Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
What happens to my record if I stop paying?
You keep it. Recorded history is never paywalled, so the counter, the calendar grid, the presence tests, the plain backup and the record CSV keep working. What stops is the paid work: background sync, encrypted backup, the audit export and the year-end report, and on Audit Defense the location evidence and the share package.
How do I delete my data?
Settings, then Delete All Data. That erases the local database, revokes calendar access and removes stored tokens, stops any location recording, cancels notifications, and returns the app to its first run state. Full instructions, including what to do after you have uninstalled the app, are on the account deletion page.
Is One83 tax advice?
No. One83 is a record-keeping tool. Its day counts are estimates you need to verify against your own records, and nothing in the app or on this site is tax, legal, or accounting advice. Work with a qualified professional on your Act 60 position.
